On Friday, 22nd of April, Kempelenpark and Bears in the Park open their doors for the neighborhood and interested people to swing by and see what is happening here.
At 3pm and at 5pm Bears in the Park offers guided tours through our studio space with a look into our current residents’ work.

Kempelenpark is currently one of the largest temporary use areas in Vienna. Most of the former Siemens offices are used by educational institutions, but the area also offers many opportunities for smaller initiatives and users from the creative and social sectors.
Nearly 60 studios are currently rented to artists, start-ups, small businesses, and research and social projects. In addition, three creative hubs are located at Kempelenpark: The performing art studios of BEARS IN THE PARK, the re:use hub of MATERIALNOMADEN, and HERD, an OPEN KITCHEN for young food entrepreneurs.
From the outside, this diversity of exciting users is hardly noticeable, and even inside the two building complexes, the artists and cultural workers are not very visible behind the doors of their studios. Many of the creative tenants have therefore joined forces and will open their studios this Friday at a joint OPEN HOUSE.
Numerous projects from the fields of visual arts, design, performance, media, film and music will be on display. A special focus is on Circular Economy and on children and youth offerings. The program also includes four themed tours.
Creative neighborhood
The neighboring interim use project GREEN DOOR will also be part of OPEN HOUSE Kempelenpark. In the charming studios of the former car workshops at Kempelengasse 8, the artists will show their current works and invite you to linger.

OPEN HOUSE Kempelenpark
Der Kempelenpark zählt derzeit zu den größten Zwischennutzungsarealen Wiens. Der Großteil der ehemaligen Siemensbüros wird von Schulungseinrichtungen genutzt, aber das Areal bietet auch viele Möglichkeiten für kleinere Initiativen und Nutzer*innen aus dem Kreativ- und Sozialbereich.
Knapp 60 Studios sind derzeit an Künstler*innen, Start-ups, Kleinunternehmen sowie an Forschungs- und Sozialprojekte vermietet. Zudem sind am Kempelenpark drei Kreativ-Hubs angesiedelt: Die Performing Art – Studios von den BEARS IN THE PARK, der re:use Hub der MATERIALNOMADEN sowie HERD, eine OPEN KITCHEN für junge Lebensmittelentrepreneure.
Von außen ist diese Vielfalt spannender Nutzer*innen kaum wahrnehmbar und auch im Inneren der beiden Gebäudekomplexe arbeiten die Kunst- und Kulturschaffenden wenig sichtbar hinter den Türen ihrer Studios. Viele der Kreativmieter*innen haben sich daher zusammengetan und öffnen diesen Freitag bei einem gemeinsamen OPEN HOUSE ihre Ateliers.
Zu sehen gibt es zahlreiche Projekte aus den Bereichen bildende Kunst, Design, Performance, Medien, Film und Musik. Ein besonderer Fokus liegt auf Circular Economy und auf Kinder- und Jugendangeboten. Am Programm stehen zudem vier Themenführungen.
Kreative Nachbarschaft
Auch das benachbarte Zwischennutzungsprojekt GREEN DOOR ist bei OPEN HOUSE Kempelenpark mit dabei. Die Künstler*innen zeigen dort in den charmanten Ateliers der ehemaligen Kfz-Werkstätten in der Kempelengasse 8 ihre aktuellen Arbeiten und laden zum Verweilen ein.
